Maja Tomanič Vidović has extensive experience in finance and investments, spanning both the public and private sectors at national and international levels.
She graduated with a degree in economics and earned a master’s in finance and banking from the University of Maribor.
Over her 20-year professional career, she has gained international experience in finance and European institutions. She has worked in investment banking and equity investments within the European Commission in Brussels, focusing on EU economic surveillance, state aid, and key reforms in the corporate sector in Slovenia and the Balkan region.
Since 2007, she has served as the Executive Director of the Slovene Enterprise Fund, managing a portfolio of debt, equity, and non-repayable funding financed through the national budget and European structural funds.
In this role, she has overseen partnerships with various commercial banks in Slovenia, international development banks, and the establishment, selection, and oversight of fund managers for venture capital funds (FIFE VC funds) in Slovenia. She has also collaborated with national and European angel investor associations, focusing on SMEs, microfinance, and venture capital.
She is a member of the advisory board of CEFOF, the Central Eastern Europe Fund of Funds, managed by the European Investment Fund.
Additionally, she is part of the EIF-NPI Equity Platform, a joint initiative launched by the EIF in 2016 to foster knowledge exchange and best practices between the EIF and National Promotional Institutions (NPI) in EU member states, involving the European Commission.
She is also a member of the General Assembly of the European Association of Guarantee Institutions (AECM), which includes 40 similar EU development banks and funds in 20 EU countries.
