Dr. Dušan Lesjak, a professor of Business Informatics (since 2000) and Educational Management (since 2010), began his academic career at the University of Maribor in 1985.
He was a Fulbright scholar in the early 1990s, conducting research at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, New York University, and Boston University.
Since 2000, he has participated in over 50 national and numerous international research projects related to education, higher education, e-learning, social and economic impacts of science, scholarships, higher education dropout rates, and more. These projects were funded by the National Research Agency and EU sources.
Dr. Lesjak served as the State Secretary at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology from 2006 to 2008 and as a special advisor to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports from 2012 to 2013.
From 2013 to 2014, he was the Acting President of the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI).
He has received numerous prestigious awards, including “Computer Educator of the Year 2003” by the International Association for Information Systems, the Golden Plaque of the University of Primorska in 2005, and the EMUNI Seal for Euro-Mediterranean Partnership in 2018.
