ISSBS acquired a new research project “Development of the standard of combined teaching in Slovenia“. Together with five other partner higher education institutions, the ISSBS will participate in the preparation of proposals for standards for combined teaching in higher education, which will highlight the need for an integrated consideration of combined education and pedagogical approaches to work. The coordinator of the project is the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Maribor. The project will be financed and implemented within the Target Research Program 2022 (CRP 2022).
Due to rapid – especially technological – changes in society (Society 5.0), higher education highlights the need to develop innovative forms of teaching. The experience with the pandemic also highlighted the necessity of digitization and innovative approaches in the field of education, as an effective digitally supported education system is the foundation for an agile response to rapid changes in modern society/economy. The digital transformation of education is one of the strategic goals, both at the level of the European Commission (EC) and Slovenia. The digital transformation of education can be achieved not only through technological transformation, but especially through new pedagogical paradigms and approaches to the preparation and implementation of the pedagogical process. At the same time, the digitization of education must also be recognized as an opportunity to improve the quality of both the pedagogical process and the entire higher education system.
In modern society, blended learning represents one of the possible innovative approaches in higher education, which countries are tackling with different approaches. In the Slovenian higher education sector, combined education represents a major challenge, as there is no regulated normative work for this area, as well as no unified and established standard and appropriate recommendations. This area will be addressed by the mentioned project.
