As a partner institution, ISSBS is participating in the international Erasmus+ KA2: Strategic partnerships project Inclusive university – a set of tools dedicated to HEI for better respond to disabled student’s needs.
The main goal of the project is to create the image of a disabled person as an equal member of the academic community. The “Inclusive university” project will contribute to improving the position and performance of students with special needs at universities. Taking into account the fact that the number of students with disabilities at European universities is increasing from year to year, the project will develop a set of tools for universities that will enable a better response to the needs of students with disabilities.
The specific objectives of the project are:
– Equipping educators and academic teachers with knowledge of the organization and coordination of educational processes for students with special needs and disabilities, using modern technologies.
– Support for scientists – how to diagnose and develop educational programs that meet the needs of students with disabilities.
– Development of strategies and educational methods for different types of disabilities: blindness, deafness, mental disorders, autism, other problems.
– Raising awareness of the university community (educators, administrative staff and students) about the presence of students with disabilities at the university.
– Increasing the quality of education and self-confidence of people with disabilities.
– Improve the quality of teaching by developing new curricula, including the use of universal design concepts.
During the implementation of the project, three main intellectual results will be developed:
Result 1 – A publication aimed at educators on learning students with different barriers.
Result 2 – Training program to raise awareness of university staff (teaching and administrative) and students about the presence of students with special needs at the university.
Result 3 – Learning materials for students – universal design.
The project in the period from 1 December 2019 to 31 December 2021 is implemented by an international consortium consisting of universities and non-governmental organizations:
