This year\u2019s conference was created in the light of monitoring current events such as demonstrations by environmental activists, fires, floods or water shortages as a result of climate change. The students&#8217; thinking and the conference&#8217;s findings were also strongly influenced by the consequences of the global COVID-19 virus epidemic. Together with the guests, the students tried to answer many questions related to the challenges of doing business in the Eco age. As guests, they invited experts who already daily deal with the topic of business in connection with ecology.<\/p>\n<p>After the welcoming speech of the dean of ISSBS doc. dr. Sre\u010dko Natek and the representative of the Student Council of the ISSBS, the first guest Mag. Marko Zidan\u0161ek, director of the public company SIMBIO, presented the company&#8217;s quality policy. Simbio is committed to the environment with all responsibility, they understand it not only as a goal, but as a demanding path to the constant search for the best solutions, preventive action and improvement.<\/p>\n<p>The conference was also attended by Mr. Lucian Perger, graduate of ISSBS and director of Perger 1757 d. o. o. and he presented the companies ecology point of view. In the production of gingerbread, Perger 1757 d.o.o. uses 100% natural ingredients, respects tradition and preserves old family recipes and production procedures, and in this way respects nature and works ecologically.<\/p>\n<p>The audience was impressed by the presentation of dr. Miha Mikelj, representative of the Youth for Climate Justice movement. During his presentation, he presented a scientific position on the current state of the planet Earth, and what kind of future awaits us (considering the impact of man on the environment) and what we can do as an individual and society for a better future.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Marinka Vovk, director of the Technology Center for Applied Ecology EKO-TCE), as a project manager and expert in the field of economical waste management, presented preventive activities in the field of reducing the burden on the environment. As the carrier of the idea of \u200b\u200bdeveloping social entrepreneurship, she believes that waste can be transformed into new products or reused through simple processes, with the leaders deciding to represent sustainable production and services with a sustainable attitude towards materials, energy, water and workers.<\/p>\n<p>EU policies and measures in the field of environmental protection and the role of education were presented by mag. Katja Kolenc, project manager at Europe Direct Savinjska and dr. Nada Trunk \u0160irca, JM Chair and ISSBS professor. As part of the presentation, mag. Katja Kolenc addressed the students of the ISSBS and presented many projects for young people, which relate to the environment and its protection. The Europe Direct network is one of the European Commission&#8217;s main tools for bringing EU policies as close as possible to the people.
