Youth challenges and opportunities in an international environment, 12.4.2018

Last Thursday, 12 April 2018, the 8th Student Conference “Youth challenges and opportunities in an international environment” took place. The main topic of this year’s student conference was the future of employment. Invited speakers included individuals who have succeeded not only in Slovenia but also internationally, and who are also active in helping young people to enter the international environment.

The coordinator of the Information Point of the European Union, Europe Direct Savinjska, presented the different existing opportunities for internships and volunteering in the EU. In addition, the owner of the baby’s store Hajdi.si presented the challenges and opportunities in the domestic and foreign markets. A representative of the Par & Mat Consulting Company challenged young participants with the thesis that Slovenia is the second Silicon Valley in the world and, finally, a representative of the Center for Vocational Education presented the Erasmus Youth for Entrepreneurs Program, which helps young people acquire skills and knowledge to set up or run their own business.

The conference continued with the presentation of several papers from students on topics like the labor market in Slovenia and the EU, youth policy, volunteering and innovation, etc.

As a result, the conference gave students an additional insight into the possibilities of entering the labour market as well as the business world.
